  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup grated apple (about 1 apple)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, milk, egg, grated apple, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  4. Heat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray.
