Authentic Tiramisu Dessert

Authentic Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert known for its rich layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream. This delectable dessert is the perfect combination of flavors and textures, making it a favorite among dessert lovers worldwide.

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 package ladyfingers (about 24)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

  1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Whisk continuously until the mixture thickens and becomes pale in color. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  2. Add mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and whisk until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso and coffee liqueur (if using). Dip each ladyfinger into the mixture briefly, ensuring they don’t get too soggy.
  5. Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture on top.
  6. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings.
