  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)


  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and knead until a dough forms.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and place thin slices of cold butter on it. Fold the dough over the butter and chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Repeat the rolling and folding process twice, chilling in between.
  5. Roll out the dough one more time, cut into triangles, and roll them up into croissants.
  6. Brush with egg wash and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Yield: 12 croissants
