  7. Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth. If you don’t have an immersion blender, you can use a regular blender, but be sure to blend in batches and be careful with hot liquids.
  8. Stir in the heavy cream and shredded cheddar cheese until the cheese is melted and the soup is creamy.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
