Ingredients

  • 6 cups of peeled, cored, and sliced apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the apple mixture into the crust.
  4. Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into strips for a lattice pattern or cover the pie with the whole crust. Seal the edges and crimp as desired.
  5. Brush the top crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
